Once your application has been submitted, TfL will reivew it and invite you to book your test dates.

You have two attempts usually for each assessment.

Usually not. TfL requires an Enhanced DBS certificate issued through its approved provider.

TfL will only accept other existing DBS certificate if it meets the following criteria: [1]

  • It must be an Enhanced DBS.

  • The position on the certificate must state: “Other Workforce – Taxi /Private Hire driver”.
  • It must be issued within the last 4 months.
  • It must be applied for through TfL’s authorised provider or another Taxi & Private Hire licensing authority.
  • You must already be subscribed to the DBS Update Service (or register within 30 days of receiving the certificate). [1]

Are there any other costs?

If you choose to use our services, additional optional costs may include:

  • Application Service: £119

  • Assessment Training: £90–£200

These services are optional, and you can apply and study independently. However, application errors or failed assessments will delay your licence and your earnings.
